I've grown obsessed

With the Twilight series. I was completely thrilled with the fact that a companion novel to Twilight would arrive some day. Why would someone leak it? Why would someone risk ruining something so special?

For the First Time In My Life

I'm ashamed to be an Oklahoman. Okay maybe not the first time, Sally Kern made me pretty embarassed to be associated with that kind of hate, but Toby Keith just seriously took the cake for making us look way behind of the times.

I am going to steal this from another source and will link my source at the bottom. But it's better explained this way then me trying to.

Despite his background as a comedian, Stephen Colbert is known by many of the authors who have appeared on his show as one of the toughest interviewers in the business. But on July 28, when country music superstar Toby Keith stepped on the set of the Colbert Report to promote his movie, Beer For My Horses, he was greeted by his host with nothing less than reverential admiration. After a jovial, back-slapping sit-down with Keith, Colbert turned the stage over to his guest for a performance of the song that inspired the title and theme of his forthcoming "Southern comedy."
While Keith belted out "Beer For My Horses," Colbert's studio audience clapped to the beat, blithely unaware that they were swaying to a racially tinged, explicitly pro-lynching anthem that calls for the vigilante-style hanging of car thieves, "gangsters doing dirty deeds...crime in the streets," and other assorted evildoers.
The lyrics to Keith's ode to lynching are as follows:
Well a man come on the 6 o'clock newssaid
somebody's been shot
somebody's been abused
somebody blew up a building
somebody stole a car
somebody got away
somebody didn't get to far yeah
they didn't get too far

Grandpappy told my pappy back in my day, son
A man had to answer for the wicked that he'd done
Take all the rope in Texas
Find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys
Hang them high in the street
For all the people to see

That Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all meet back at the local saloon
And we'll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing
whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
We got too many gangsters doing dirty deeds
too much corruption and crime in the streets
It's time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground
Send 'em all to their maker and he'll settle 'em down
You can bet he'll set 'em down...

During the days when Toby Keith's "Grandpappy" stalked the Jim Crow South, lynching was an institutional method of terror employed against blacks to maintain white supremacy. According to the Tuskegee Institute, between the years 1882 and 1951, 3,437 African-Americans were lynched in the United States, mostly in the heart of Dixie. Felonious assault and rape (read: corrupting "the flower of white womanhood") were the two most frequent justifications for lynch mob actions.
Toby Keith: "Hang 'em high in the street, for all the people to see"
Georgia was ground zero for lynch mob activity. Though most of the Peach State's victims were black, one of its most high-profile hangings claimed the life of a Jew, Leo Frank. Frank, a college-educated Northerner, was wrongly convicted in 1913 of murdering a 13-year-old girl after a show trial in which his prosecutor portrayed him to a grand jury as a bisexual pervert. Before the trial, one juror remarked, "If I get on that jury, I'll hang that Jew for sure."
A crowd gathered outside the courtroom as soon as the verdict came down. "Hang the Jew!" they chanted. Above the mob's cries rose the voice of a country fiddler named John Carson who had come to debut his ode to Frank's supposed victim, Mary Phagan. He sang:
Leo Frank he met her
With a brutish heart, we know;He smiled, and said, "Little Mary,You won't go home no more."
The terrifying spectacle outside the courtroom prompted Jewish families to flee Atlanta in droves. Two years later, after the governor commuted Frank's sentence, a lynch mob spirited Frank from his prison cell, dragged him into the woods and lynched him -- from "a tall oak tree," as Toby Keith sang.
Leo Frank, a Northern Jew, was lynched in 1915 -- from "a tall oak tree," as Toby Keith sang
Those who doubt the presence of racist undertones in Keith's "Beer For My Horses" should see the song's video. (The embed link to the video's Youtube version was disabled by Keith's record label so you have to click here to watch it). Cue ahead to 3:00 and watch as Keith intones, "We got too many gangsters doin' dirty deeds." The singer's words are not-so-subtly accompanied by the image of a swaggering black man sporting short dreads and baggy clothes. Thus the profile of Keith's ideal lynching candidate is revealed.
Keith's whirlwind publicity tour continues on July 30 with his appearance on CBS's Early Show, then sit-down interviews with Esquire Magazine and Us Weekly. The following week, Jay Leno will play host to another raucous rendition of "Beer For My Horses." Thanks to Keith and his unsuspecting hosts, lynching is becoming cool again.
Update: The trailer to Keith's "Beer For My Horses" identifies the film's lead villian: a dark-skinned "Mexican guy" who traffics drugs and kidnaps the girlfriend of Keith's character.

So you get the point? I would hope you would by now. Toby Keith is nothing but an embarassment to the state of Oklahoma. He makes us all look like we believe this way, and that is why I am so angry. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am getting married to a black man in a matter of months, and I am thrilled to say that I as an Oklahoman am no where near as ignorant as Mr. Toby Keith.

MDU recommendation? LMAO

So I get quite a few laughs from this site, www.mamadramauncensored.com, and they whoever "they" are, suggested that people go to bestparentever.com, so I did out of pure curiosity and being up at 4 in the effing morning.

A lot of that site cracked me up, until I reached the section about dumb baby names, where Neveah was voted the number 2 dumbest baby name, uh hell no, that's my niece's name, and well I like it, I wouldn't name my own child it, but it suits her quite well. Colic and all, you see heaven backwards, I kid I kid, I love her to death.

Theeennn there was the section on submitting the dumbest baby names, and they suggested anything ending with ey should qualify, okay now this site has angered me quite a lot, my daughter is Cailey, I had honestly never heard the name until after she was born, I wanted a C spelling to go with Chris and I, and so I ran with Cailey. Why is it ASSumed that anyone with an ey ending name is an unoriginal idiot?

I do agree with sections of the site, such as the growth chart, and breastfeeding sections on the front page of it currently. There are a lot of realities to both posts. I support any woman who chooses to breastfeed as it is obviously harder than formula feeding, and I agree they are making the right choice for their child. The only time I become angry at ANYONE who breastfeeds is if it is rubbed in my face, as if I am an inferior parent for not doing it, we are all trying to reach the same goal, a healthy, happy child. The growth chart thing cracked me up, I am not a firm believer in growth chart's as a reliable way to measure a child's "normalcy" I mean Cailey measures through the roof on weight and head size, and average on height, if I played into that I would have my child on a diet right now, but I don't her doctor isn't concerned either. I am sure I will return later with another blog entry, purely because I'm bored out of my mind.

Oh the joys of being sick

Why is it that without fail every time I'm sick Cailey is too? It always goes that way. It makes for extremely stressful days. As most of the time when I get sick I get SICK, it's not just a little cold for me, it turns into a battle of the lungs for oxygen, and me on breathing treatments and no sleep.

Poor Chris gets stuck in the middle of all this, he winds up taking care of Cailey and I both, he really deserves fiance of the year award. He is the best father as well, he puts her to sleep every night, and he loves her to pieces, I really couldn't ask for more when it comes to him.

Vaccination debate, here we goooo!

Let's think about this for a second.

IF you vaccinate your children, they will more than likely not develop a lot of childhood diseases. I have personally researched the CRAP out of the MMR-Autism link, there isn't one technically, a GASTROINTEROLOGIST was the one who came up with the whole mess!

Why not vaccinate your child? Why buy into the internet bull shit? How about we put our faith back into our physicians and keep our children protected. The more people who decline shots, the higher the likelihood that diseases will re-surface and will kill a bunch of people.

Please for the love of GOD stop ignoring the facts, and do what is safe for your child, and everyone else, if you deny all shots, and a child has yet to be vaccinated and your child gets another child sick, how will you feel? It is because of your neglect that other kids are being put at risk, and in reality you need to be thanking the people who do vaccinate their children, because they're preventing your child from not being exposed to the diseases that they have NO immunity to.

Sally Kern did it AGAIN

I really didn't want to have to post a blog about her, the woman who is completely confused. I honestly hope someone just taught her about Christianity in the wrong ways. Where does Christ EVER gay bash? Please someone anyone show me!

Her latest statement put me into shock, apparently tomorrow is National Clock In For Equality Day, good, we need more equality. She put out a "warning" for those of "us" who have "traditional values" saying that as of tomorrow "changable homosexuals" will be receiving special treatment. Are you fricking kidding me?!?!?! This has to be some type of mis-quotation, please let it be, but sadly I know it is not, this woman is insane by every standard.

For those of you who don't know who Sally Kern is, let's do a quick re-cap, she is the woman is compared gays to terrorist, the woman who said not all religions are equal, and the woman who compared homosexuals to cancer, and sadly the woman who represents my house district. I cannot wait for the November election, I really can't wait to wave at her as she loses her office at the capitol.

Oh good Lord here we go again!!!!

On my birth board, the joyous debate is BACK, rear facing vs. forward facing, here's the reality.
REAR FACING IS SAFER, END OF STORY. To the original poster, God is meant to help us, BUT it is YOUR responsibility to attempt to protect your child in EVERY way possible. My child is rear facing, and does throw fits, but I figure I would rather hear screaming than never hear it again. Let's focus on our child's safety vs. their happiness while riding in the CAR.

While we're at it, let's discuss not vaxing a child. if you use the same logic as the OP of the thread, we shouldn't do that either, because if it's our children's time it's our children's time. No matter what, it's OUR job to protect our kid's fucking realize it k?
